Here is a Rolex style band we made an impression of for a client. Up first you can see the customer’s original ring. If you look closely on the side ridges you’ll notice how thin the metal has become and there is even holes in places. Because their customer wanted an exact impression of their original ring this meant making a mold of the first ring. Which we usually advise against, but it’s what the customer wanted and just meant paying extra for the wax to be rebuilt correctly. Also means that every wax used from this mold will have to be rebuilt each time.
The second ring is our casting. The cast itself came out great and you where we rebuilt the ring as it’s slightly thicker than the original, but overall still has the same wear and character, like they wanted.
