Custom Made Sam Houston University Class Ring

Here is a custom made Sam Houston University Class Ring we custom made for a client's customer in Texas. The ring was based off different elements of other class rings their customer liked. In the video we show off the finished ring and the 3d print. But it's also a good example of what we mean by accounting for shrinkage and clean up. You'll notice in certain areas the 3d print has larger and sharper edges than the finished ring. This due to shrinkage after printing, shrinkage of the metal while casting, and rounding of the surface while filing and polishing. A harder metal will retain it's shape better than a softer metal, but overall this is the process. This is why we always check who is custom making a piece for you and if unsure always ask for measurements and model screenshots; not just rendered images. Yes, extremely fine detail and smaller parts (ie. texture work, prongs, borders, etc) do look better in a rendered photo. But if the details or parts are not deep or larger enough they'll be gone or almost non existent after polishing. If you are looking to have something custom made feel free to reach out!
