Here is the casting for the re-designed University of Texas Class Ring 3d print we showed off a few posts and videos ago. This cast came out fantastic, but you might noticed that it doesn’t have the same sprue set up as the one we showed off in the flasks. That’s because this E right here had a pit hole in it; looked like some investment broke free during pouring and mixed in with the metal.
Failed casts don’t happen often, but they still do, heck even for a shop like us and we’ve casting collectively for over 50+ years. So if it happens to you, don’t get discouraged!
However for this new cast the piece came out perfect. Really the only clean up that needs to be done will be filing where the sprues were attached.
