14k Yellow Gold Arrow Head Pendant Casting

14k Yellow Gold Arrow Head Pendant Casting

We recently had the opportunity to assist a client who was tasked with creating a custom piece of jewelry for a customer with a very unique and irreplaceable arrowhead. The goal was to create an impression of the arrowhead and cast it into a 14k yellow gold pendant, all while ensuring the original artifact remained intact.

Although we don’t have a video of the wax model due to tight turnaround times during the various stages of the project, we do have footage of the final cast pendants and the original arrowhead.

Initially, the customer had requested the creation of a 3D model, but after thorough discussions with both the client and their customer, we recommended a more specialized approach. Instead of digital modeling, we suggested using a particular style of mold, which is specifically designed to work with high-value materials. This method was chosen to ensure the final pendant would match the original piece as closely as possible.

After the impression of the arrowhead was made, a bail was added and we cast two pendants using the client's provided metal. The mold captured nearly all of the fine details of the original arrowhead, though some slight variations occurred. Given the nature of the original piece, there is only so much pressure that can be applied during the molding process without risking damage.

At this point, our portion of the project is complete. The pendants will now be finished by our client’s jewelers according to the customer's specifications.

We appreciate you taking the time to follow along with this process. Should you have any questions or if you are interested in creating a custom piece of jewelry, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
